Power Exchange, Pet Play

Intelligence Degradation

Intelligence Degradation means explicitly agreed role-play that uses teasing about intelligence. Participants may choose it within a power exchange or alongside a simple pet mindset, but it is not necessary for either. The words describe a negotiated role; they do not describe a person’s actual abilities, worth or right to make decisions.

What it's like

A person may welcome certain terms only in a particular scene and dislike those same terms elsewhere. Another may enjoy a relaxed or less verbal pet role while wanting no intelligence-related teasing at all. These are distinct preferences.

Partners should agree on exact language, tone and context. Do not infer consent from interest in submission, humiliation, pet play or a related activity. Someone can change their mind even about words they previously approved.

Safety & consent

This is role-play among consenting adults. Agree on language, touch, activities and limits before starting, and keep a clear way to pause or stop. Anyone can speak normally or leave character at any time. Actual animals are never participants. Treat this as a separate opt-in conversation. Identify off-limits words and personal sensitivities, keep an easy way to stop, and check in afterward. Never use role-play language to dismiss a real concern, undermine decision-making or continue after consent is withdrawn.

Common misconceptions

Getting started safely

  1. Discuss exact language outside a scene, without pressure to agree.
  2. If both want to try it, keep the first exchange brief and easy to stop.
  3. Check in afterward and do not reuse terms without ongoing consent.

Frequently asked questions

Is this part of every pet role?

No. Many people enjoy pet play without any degradation.

Can I approve a word and later reject it?

Yes. Consent can change at any time.

Can it continue outside a scene?

Only within a separately discussed, ongoing agreement. Never assume that permission carries over.

How to bring it up

  1. Prompt 1"Is intelligence-related teasing something you want to discuss, or a firm no?"
  2. Prompt 2"Are there specific words you would welcome only within a scene?"
  3. Prompt 3"How should we pause and reconnect if the language feels wrong?"
