Pacifier play is a practice within age play and adult infantilism where an adult incorporates a pacifier (also called a dummy or soother) into their erotic or comfort-focused play. The pacifier serves as a physical and psychological prop that supports a headspace commonly called 'little space,' in which the participant mentally shifts toward a younger, more dependent, or more carefree state of mind. This can be purely sensory and self-soothing, a form of stress relief, or an element of a Dominant and submissive dynamic where a caregiver-type partner provides the pacifier as part of nurturing roleplay. The appeal often centers on feelings of safety, vulnerability, care, and regression from adult responsibilities rather than any sexual interest in actual minors. Adult-sized pacifiers are commercially available and are designed specifically for this use. The kink exists on a spectrum from non-sexual comfort practice to explicitly erotic scenes.
All participants must be consenting adults who have clearly discussed the dynamic before play begins. Establish agreed boundaries around how deep the regression headspace goes and what behaviors or language are welcome. Use adult-sized pacifiers only, as standard infant sizes pose choking risks. Clean and sanitize pacifiers regularly to avoid bacteria buildup. Emotionally, regression play can surface vulnerable feelings, so aftercare is especially important. Have a plan for grounding and re-orienting after a scene. A safeword or safe signal should be established since verbal communication may be limited during play.
